The 1938 original High School was hailed as being among the finest schools in New England and the country. Over the years families and faculty, eager to pursue and advance the highest standards of high school education, have been attracted to Wellesley.

The original seventy-room structure cost the town $847,000. In addition, Wellesley received a $312,000 Public Works Administration grant from the Federal government. Wellesley High School has more than withstood the test of time.

In a day when high schools built a mere thirty years ago are considered old and are being torn down, Wellesley now has the unique opportunity to restore and preserve what is a sound and beautiful building, constructed in the style of the time by premier architects and a caring community. Future generations will appreciate it and use it to their best advantage.
